It's rare to have a complete redo on a premiere event, but the evening of our first go at it on May 17, the electricity went down in the entire region where we were holding the event at White Horse Black Mountain.
We did not get to the screen the film, but we did gather in a community circle, share stories, meditation and a brief ceremony as we connected in love and celebration of the Southeastern Permaculture Gathering! It was a lovely evening, as sirens blasted by and dusk slowly settled over the mountain valley.
We immediately asked if we could reschedule the event as soon as possible before the Gathering coming up August 1-3 at the Patterson School in Lenoir, NC, our first time having the event there. White Horse Black Mountain, a non-profit pay what you can venue, graciously agreed to offer us their last available date before August on June 30, which happens to be our last day of early bird pricing for the Gathering, so please join us at 7:00 in Black Mountain, NC that evening, and help support the continuation of this event as well as the Bioregional Gatherings Project which is launching as part of this film premiere.
Our gathering is a vibrant example of a bioregional community gathering and we are working to grow a bioregional network of other gatherings to help grow healthy relationships with nature and each other around the world. This film celebrates many of our local luminaries in the organic food growing and permaculture movement as well as visions a future with more events like this that expand love and cultivate community connections with local ecosystems.
This is a participatory event, so please bring an item to place on the altar for the duration of the event, a favorite community song you'd like to share, a special story or memory from the Gatherings in the past, or information you would like to share on a table at the event.
We look forward to seeing you there and having a jubilant mini community celebration!
